Petri EBn 35mm Rangefinder Camera with 45mm f/1.9 Orikkor Lens, Auxiliary Lens Set, Box and Case

The Petri EBn was introduced in 1960 and is a fixed-lens 35mm rangefinder camera produced by Kuribayashi Camera Industry. It features a coupled rangefinder, a fast Petri Orikkor 45mm f/1.9 lens, and an uncoupled selenium exposure meter that requires no batteries. The "Electronic Brain" name used in advertising referred to the camera's metering system rather than any form of automatic exposure control.

This example is rated Used Excellent Plus. The selenium meter responds to changes in light. The shutter fires on all speeds, although the slow speeds stick up to and including 1/15 second. Faster speeds appear accurate by ear. The film advance lever returns slowly after winding. The lens glass is clean and clear with no issues.

Cosmetically, the camera presents very well with only a few minor scuffs near the selenium meter. The original lens cap has adhesive residue from a previous sticker. The camera includes its original presentation box, ever-ready case, auxiliary wide and telephoto lenses, external finder, and auxiliary lens case.

Shop Notes

The foam in the auxiliary lens case has deteriorated with age. The auxiliary lenses have been cleaned and stored in protective plastic bags. Slow speeds hare stuck and slow. Above 1/15th the speeds appear to be okay. This camera has a 90 day warranty to cover issues not mentioned in this description. Would make a great collector piece, or a great shooter with a CLA.
