Camera Trading Company is an independent camera shop based in Perth, Ontario, specializing in used photographic equipment—especially film cameras, classic lenses, and tools that photographers can continue to use and enjoy.
Camera Trading Company is a Canadian camera shop specializing in used cameras, film cameras, vintage lenses, and photographic equipment for photographers across Canada and around the world.
The tested and warrantied cameras and lenses that pass through the shop go right back into the hands of photographers who want to use them, learn from them, and make photographs with them.
A Shop With History
The business began in 1981 in Ottawa under the name The Camera Exchange. Over time the shop evolved and eventually became Camera Trading Company when the original owner, Mark T., partnered with Tom S.
For decades the store served photographers, collectors, and enthusiasts throughout the Ottawa region.
In 2020, Mark and Tom decided it was time to retire. Rather than closing the shop, they chose to pass it on to long-time customer and photography enthusiast Mark Mongeau, who had been visiting the store for years.
They believed the business should continue in the hands of someone who shared their passion for cameras and photographic equipment.
Following the transition, the shop was moved from Ottawa to Perth, Ontario, where Camera Trading Company continues to operate today.
What We Specialize In
Camera Trading Company focuses on used film cameras, classic lenses, and carefully selected photographic equipment.
Many customers visit the shop looking for reliable 35 mm cameras, medium-format systems, and lenses that are no longer manufactured. Others are collectors searching for interesting or historically important equipment.
Photographers across Canada—and internationally—purchase equipment from the shop, particularly those interested in film photography, vintage cameras, and collectible photographic gear.
Because much of the inventory is used or consigned, the selection changes frequently and often includes items that are difficult to find elsewhere.
What the Shop Carries
The inventory changes constantly but typically includes film cameras in 35 mm, medium format, and large format; digital cameras and lenses; classic and collectible photographic equipment; lenses, flashes, meters, and tripods; film holders, darkroom tools, and studio accessories; and fresh photographic film and chemistry.
Many items pass through the shop each week, so the online inventory is always evolving.
Buying and Selling Equipment
Camera Trading Company regularly purchases photographic equipment outright and also sells items on consignment.
If you are looking for a particular camera or lens and do not see it listed online, feel free to ask. New items arrive frequently and may not yet be listed.
Serving Photographers Across Eastern Ontario
Although the shop is located in Perth, Ontario, Camera Trading Company regularly works with photographers from Ottawa, Kingston, Smiths Falls, Carleton Place, and across Eastern Ontario. Many customers also purchase equipment online and have items shipped throughout Canada and internationally.
