The Paillard Bolex H16 is one of the most respected 16mm motion picture cameras ever produced, known for its precision Swiss construction, fully mechanical operation, and enduring reliability. This early non-reflex example features the classic triple turret design and is presented here in near mint condition.

What makes this particular camera especially interesting is the inclusion of a complete stereoscopic (3D) filming setup — a rare and highly collectible configuration that allows the creation of true three-dimensional motion picture footage using 16mm film.

The camera is powered by a spring-wound motor that runs smoothly and maintains consistent speed. All controls operate as expected, and the overall mechanical feel is excellent.

This kit includes a Paillard Bolex Lytar 25mm f/2.5 lens, providing a standard field of view for general 16mm shooting, along with a Paillard Bolex YVAR 12.5mm f/2.8 lens used in conjunction with the stereo setup. Both lenses are clean, with clear glass and no issues observed.

In addition to the camera and lenses, this set includes the accessories required for stereoscopic filming and viewing, including a supplementary viewfinder, 3D viewing glasses, instruction materials, a timer, and a projection attachment. Together, these components form a complete vintage stereo filmmaking system — something rarely found in this level of completeness and condition.

This is a unique opportunity to acquire not only a classic 16mm camera, but a specialized and historically interesting filmmaking kit that bridges traditional cinema and early experimental 3D imaging.

Notes from the Shop

Complete stereoscopic Bolex setups are rarely encountered, particularly with this level of completeness and condition. The inclusion of both a standard Lytar lens for everyday shooting and a YVAR lens for stereo work makes this a versatile and highly collectible kit suitable for both filmmakers and collectors.
