The Miranda Camera Company (formerly the Orion Camera Company) of Japan made a series of high-quality, single-lens-reflex cameras through the 1960s and early 1970s. These were solidly built, all-metal, fully mechanical SLRs with some of the features usually found only on professional cameras, notably interchangeable prism finders. The Miranda Sensomat, made in 1969, has a fully mechanical cloth shutter with speeds from B and one second to 1/1000 of a second, instant-return mirror, match-needle exposure meter in the viewfinder, and stop-down, through-the-lens metering. The shutter release is on the front of the body (Exacta-style), with a socket for a cable release on the top. The lens mount is Miranda bayonet. This chrome camera body comes with the standard prism finder and three all-metal Auto Miranda lenses: a 1:1.8 f=50mm normal lens, a 1:2.8 f=28mm wide-angle, and a 1:3.5 f=135 medium telephoto. This was the standard lens complement in its day. Also included is a Miranda Extension Tube set, in the original box. Extension tubes of various lengths are placed between the camera and the lens for extreme close-ups.

Included: The camera comes with a Miranda genuine leather ever-ready case (from an earlier model that lacked the stop-down button), leather neck strap, UV filter, dedicated lens hood and case for the 135mm lens, dedicated lens hood and case and lens case for the 28mm lens, two lens caps (one plastic, one aluminum), and the original box for the extension tube set.

Operating Condition: Camera: the stop-down button (which also turns on the meter) does not lock down as it should (a slight inconvenience, but with the advantage that it prevents the meter from being accidently left on and running down the battery); and there is some dust under the focusing screen; otherwise tested and fully working. Lenses: all three lenses have clear optics, snappy diaphragms, and smooth focusing. Used – Excellent Plus

Cosmetic Condition: Camera: There is a spot of corrosion on the top cover next to the prism finder, the painted frame of the film door is worn, and there is a nine-digit number discreetly engraved on the back of the bottom plate, which is also lightly scuffed. The leather neck strap is well-worn, and the ever-ready case is lightly worn and the hinge has been reinforced. Used – Excellent.

Lenses: The 50mm lens has small rubs to the black paint on the focusing ring, two small rubs on the edge of the filter ring, and the same nine-digit number engraved on the bottom of the aperture ring; the 28mm and 135mm lenses each have several small rubs on the focusing rings, and the lens hoods have small rubs on the edges. Used – Excellent Plus
